The 31st Annual Denman Island Christmas Craft Faire

'Bowery Joe - Seasons Greegree'
a new card...
Botanical Curiosities and Junkyard Byrds
will be in the Seniors Hall with prints and cards..

Saturday & Sunday
December 1st & 2nd, 2012
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Delicious lunches will be available at both the Back Hall of the Community Centre
and the Seniors Lounge in the Seniors Centre.
Both venues are wheelchair accessible.
Admission is FREE!
Just park your vehicle at Buckley Bay and walk on the ferry. A Shuttle Van will be on hand to transfer visitors from the Denman Island Ferry Terminal up the hill to Denman Village, or it’s only a two block walk up the hill.
In 2010, Westworld Magazine announced it as one of the top 10 December winter events to go to in BC.
You’ll enjoy perusing more than 85 craft booths, where (mostly) Denman artisans will offer a wide selection of pottery, carvings, woodworking, paintings, jewelry, weaving,  herbs, soaps and essential oils, clothing, cards, candles, calendars, and much more! This is the perfect opportunity to complete your holiday shopping and enjoy some time in a unique community that thrives on the arts!

why so serious?

I have been thinking about sewing kits...
What do you think?

the lost months...October and November

What can I say? The last 2 months have been so packed with family affairs that I have not had time to post any new work...
I don't really remember October...

September...even the air is different

autumn caresses...air  weighs lightly with longing ...
berry juices, deer in the brambles, early morning chill, afternoon heat,
nodding seed pods,
a community of relief and peace. harvests. much ado about soup cans
and much more to do about firewood.
satiation and joy. canning kettles and larders.

bare feet celebrate...still a dance...
everything tastes of fall.

the Phillips loop frame

She was leaning in the shadow of the water tower, battered black steel...her curvaceous frame, step through and ride...I don't know who left her there but am grateful I had the chance to photograph her before she was spirited away to be ravished and modernized. I  imagine the many miles, assignations, commutes, flights, pursuits...apple trees and narrow lanes. This gal -  a sturdy, graceful and obviously faithful friend. The lady Phillips, before Raleigh. Delighted to have met you....long may your wheels spin!

This is my newest print...

Bowery Joe and the DubCrow playing unplugged

I originally built this stage set for a square format and only this week finished a rectangular version. As you can see I am still delighted with the wonderful old plugs and electronic nightmares that I find at the depot. Especially fond of this light bulb! Inspired by Austin City Limits...
