Grasses...Elementary Roots

Grasses were the first plants that I hybridized...a cross between crisp new pencil skins satisfyingly cracked between the teeth
and a ruler slapping sound... very 5th grade. There are enough grasses for a Gallery page of their own. Grasses...Elementary and Curious Roots

Pencil Grass
(ferrule dentata) found in abundance near schoolyards, fresh growth in September...withered specimens collected in June and July. Small rose and amber coloured seeds with rubbery texture. Rapid growth... Incremental Grass (of the family gramineae). Heritage varieties grow from 12" to 36" h. Modern cultivars 30 cm. to 91.44 cm. h...Woody form, prefers careful cultivation, grows well in rows. Used historically in the discipline of scholars and esp. non-scholars.
